Our History (Brief)

PSI was founded by a Professional Engineer who had worked designing with SIPs for years. Even though SIPs are a superior building system when compared with conventional stick framing and insulation, he found that many people who wanted to use SIPs didn't. Usually this was because of two things: 1) Over-pricing by some (not all) dealers and distributors, and 2) lack of construction support.

In response to these problems, PSI was founded in attempt to promote the use of SIPs in residential and commercial construction. While structural insulated panels and insulated concrete forms are not new products, there are still many homeowners and owner-builders, contractors, and design professionals who have unanswered questions.

PSI is an the exclusive Premier Dealer for Oregon , an industry leader in SIP manufacturing. We chose Premier because their panels have undergone some of the most rigorous testing in the industry and have some of the best published structural values that we have found. They also have a strong management team and offer excellent support to their dealers so that we are able to provide the end consumer with a good product and excellent service.

The ideal energy-efficient home or building consists of both Premier SIPs for the exterior walls and roof and, unless the foundation is slab on grade, ICFs for the crawl space or basement stem walls. If the roof is complex or hipped, then we recommend trusses with an energy heel instead of SIPs. With a conditioned crawl space insulated with ICFs, the ground level floor remains a comfortable temperature and the entire structure is much more energy efficient.
