Top 5 FAQs: Question #4

Q: How much do SIPs cost?

A: We do not have a set square footage pricing for SIPs that are customized for a specific project. A typical SIP package that includes screws, SIP tape, mastic, shop drawings, and fabricated panels usually costs about 10% more to purchase than a comparable lumber package for stick framing. However, this varies based on the project. SIPs make sense because they can substantially reduce heating and cooling costs for the life of the structure.

We provide free estimates on panel packages, and can provide you with the price for stock panels (no fabrication) even though less than 5% of our sales is stock materials. Our estimates are based on architectural drawings that you provide us. We go through the plans and predict how efficiently the plan uses panels (waste) and what we think will be needed in terms of accessories. This estimate is our best guess, may include a freight estimate, and excludes sales tax.

Once shop drawings are completed and have been approved by the project owner, we complete a final take-off on the project. Changes in design from the original estimate will change the final price. Also, projects where fabrication produces little waste are able to more efficiently use panels and keep costs down. This take-off is the final price, and is provided to the client prior to commencing production.
