Homeowner FAQs #3
Q: Do homes or other structures built with SIPs look different from stick framed buildings?
A: Homes built with SIPs should not look any different from conventionally framed homes. They can be used in the same designs and blueprints as conventional stick framing, though some designs more effeciently use panels than others.

Simple roofs are better suited to SIPs. Hipped and complex roofs often require enough beams and custom connections to support SIPs that many of the benefits of building with SIPs are lost. Most of the homes we work with have gable or monoslope roofs. Homes with mixed roof sometimes use SIPs for part while framing others.

If you have plans chosen out or are designing your home for SIPs, please feel free to ask us any questions you may have about planning for SIPs.
