Ease of Installation
For our builder and owner-builder clients, the ease of installating SIPs are a major selling point. When compared to stick framing, panels require smaller crews for fewer hours to put up the same amount of wall. SIP walls, roofs, and floors produce very little waste, if any, and are usually much straighter than stick framed walls.
We recommend builders obtain training for SIP installation if they anticipate using the panels often. We strongly recommend owner-builders putting up walls to obtain hands-on training, especially if they have limited construction experience. Insufficient training or know-how will slow the installation process, but it is quite easy to learn how to install and work with SIPs. Click here to see Premier Building System's installation video.
Premier panels arrive onsite prepared to different degrees for installation depending on how you request your panel package: raw panels (no customization), panels without door/window openings (not commonly requested, needs more onsite cutting), panels with openings precut (common), or cut with lumber installed (recommended for most projects).
The lumber installed packages offered by Premier are ready to assemble (RTA) packages that include the splines attached to the edge of one panel for each joint and lumber installed for window and door openings (as specified in shop drawings). Most owner-builders and many builders prefer this option. Some builders who experience more changes onsite prefer the packages with openings cut but without lumber installed so it is easier to make these modifications. When you order your panel package, we can help you determine which package will probably work best for you.
